1g alternator wiring + wiring testing

Can anyone tell me where the three wires go from the back of the alternator on a 1g? There is a yellow one, a black one and a fat white one. There is also a really fat white one on the top white goes to the bat. It is internally regulated so i'm lost as to what the three could be for.
Also I've just finished sorting out the wiring (what a fricken huge job) and was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on testing everything to make sure it works (sensors and the diagnosis plugs) and some trouble shooting tips if they don't?
