The Caterham Superlight R500 be the fastest 'road' car to 100mph then back to 0mph in the universe. Beating the previous holders (a McLaren F1 LM car, with race rubber) title by 0.06sec.
The Caterham, at the end of the test was beaten only by two other car,s both dedicated race .

rex,
there is a 4wd one in the uk as well - not a caterham though. uses the sierra 4x4 driveline....
also a twin-kawa zx9 motorbike engined one (4wd as well) which apparently makes the r500 seem slow.

ever driven one?
the look of the body does not matter when you are blasting past everything in a road-legal go cart....(you can't see it from behind the wheel anyway)

Ben,
Im actually building one right now powered by a 20v. However it's what they call a Locost. Not a kit car as such, Its built from the ground up. Using a book called 'How to Build Your own sports Car for as little as 250pounds' by Ron Champion
Me got an Engineer who's approving it to be 100% road legal too. He in the process of finishing my Specs for Transport SA to Approve.
It'll probably take about 2-3yrs to complete. But when its done i'll have a Clubman (one of my dreams) and the biggest smile on my face you could imagine.
Frank,
What the hell do you mean ugly!
