G'day everybody,
Has anybody ever heard of a 2JZ-GTE being put in to a RA28 celica? or any other celica for that matter? I'm interested in doing this as a project with my Brother in-law in the future but just want to weigh things up a little first...
Cheers
Dan

Pretty sure 1J fits but 2J is taller so getting it under the bonnet could be a problem. Any reason for specifying 2J over say 1J????

The reason i asked was the latest 1J has single turbos and
vvt-i and in a ra28 would bloody fly!!!! yes in the end of the a serious all out build up a 2J might be better but a 1J even the old twin turbo version would go like stink. By the way i don't know if the heads are different. have a search and look for a 1J in a ra2X there is alink to pics and bonnet clearance look close. a 2J would fit i don't think.

1. Yes cylinder heads are different between 1JZ and 2JZ. I'm not sure what this has to do with an engine conversion though.
2. The height of the engine is the least of your worries when it comes to stuffing a JZ engine into an old Celica! I hope you're aware this will be a huge project, and definitely not for the beginner...
3. I'm not sure why you think the 2JZ is newer... AFAIK the 1JZ is still in production (as is the 2JZ).
4. Check if this conversion is even legal in your state. In Qld and NSW a 1JZ is legal in an RA2x but a 2JZ is not.
