Hee hee...
last night i was on my way home from band rehearsal in the 'roku, best part of 100kg of gear in the boot, pull up next to a very sleek looking R33 GTs25t Skyline at the lights, all white, very slick, very subtle, with a nice little nismo sticker on the back quarter, and a MASSIVE fart-can hanging out the back. I assumed that this car was going to be moving very fast off from the lights, and decided it'd be a giggle to see how my sprinter kept up with it. For those who dont know, i'm running a dead-stock 4age 16v, with a few problems.
NOW. Before I tell the rest of the story, let me acknowledge that I am fully aware that in any normal, functional situation, where the driver of the skyline had been: a) at all aware of how to get the car moving, or b) not dead, i would've been a speck in his rear view mirror. This was clearly not any normal night. or more accurately, I got the best start of my entire driving life (4500rpm and dump it), and continued to drive that little sprinter as hard as i ever had before. meanwhile the skyline (not expecting me to be actually going for it) paused for a second, realised he couldn't afford the shame of losing, gunned the crap out of his engine, dumped the clutch, spun the wheels for a bit, and finally took off. By this time I was long gone.
He must've thought i was a total tossbag, and i KNOW that there is no way that my car could ever be referred to as 'faster than an R33 skyline' but for some idiotic reason, I had the hugest grin on my face. Was fun. 30 seconds later I heard a massive roar as this guy's lights got big very rapidly in my rear vision mirror, so I stuck a 'thumbs up' out the window at him, and giggled as he blasted past at what must've been close to 180kph (i was doing 100, and he NAILED past).
He wasn't happy. I was ecstatic for the rest of the night.
