ginger Newcomer Location: Melbourne Registered: October 2004	Dual Aisans side draft on 1971 Corona Mk11 coupe RT72 with 8RB Tue, 26 October 2004 15:06 Does anybody out there have any info or knowledge about these carbs.. diagrams, settings, where to get carby kits etc. Can some-one in Melb. do a decent job on tuning - everybody's wrecked the settings. Would they tune better if I used PULP? Would they be better if the manifold was unblocked and had water running through? How important is the fuel pump - some guy put on an 18R pump.. is it a different fuel delivery to the correct one? The thing goes really well even with badly tuned carbs, but the only way I can get them to work reasonably well is by listening to the body with a stethoscope and then listen to the hiss via a tube from ear to the throats and then walking around the car listening to the exhaust and then looking at the tacho... (neighbours think it's really strange). It needs to be hot to tune it properly, so I have to keep taking it on the road and stopping here and there to give it a tweak... it's crazy. They never used to be like this till mechanics fiddled with them. While I'm at it, how do I set that little thing that sticks out the back of the distributor... that octane thing. Also, is the vacuum advance that important, it seems to ping less without it connected. [Report message to a moderator]
