Better economy - custom manifold Wed, 27 October 2004 12:07 Go to previous message
Hi all I'm chasing suggestions/opinions on how to gain some better economy in my supercharged 4 cyl 4y-c hilux.
Current setup is using ea falcon throttle body injection, wolf3d computer and sc14 charger. According to the guy who tuned it up these injectors are running flat out at high revs (he actually said he is driving em 130% of wolf max setting). In regards to this i have no idea what the actual rated flow of these is but they are off a 3.9l six cyl. I am also mainly as a temp solution running water injection. (done post tune)

Firstly I am going to intercool it with a liberty water/air cooler. Car had alot of problems with pinging when dynoed as air temps soared. Hopefully i can reduce fuel rate alot if charged air is cooler.

I was also thinking of using a 4y-e inlet manifold & injectors (possibly upgraded to whatever ijectors will fit), so i can have an injector per cylinder. This will also require changing to dual pulse ign signal. Problem with this is i will have to custom make the plenum/throttle body part as the 4y-e one will stand too high in the engine bay for intercooler and also the air intake would be on the wrong side. Suggestions??

It was also suggested to me by the mechanic to run dual coil or better yet direct fire ignition, instead of the current dizzy/signal coil/pulse setup.
