Sun, 14 November 2004 22:33 Okay, so I've got an RT142 as a daily driver. As I have given up on cars and gone the two-wheeled route, the Corona won't be getting a lot of action on the streets and is really only for rainy days & carrying stuff (or people). The bike's been off the road for a carby rebuild over the last week or two, so the Corona has done a few miles. I have put $55 of fuel in it and my brother put $10 in when I lent it to him. So that's a total of $65 in fuel which equates to a touch under 65 litres, plus maybe 5 litres (fuel light was on) when I bought it. Now, it's done just shy of 900kms on that 70 litres and the fuel light has only flickered once but hasn't come on solidly yet. that's about 8l/100km.... which is the best fuel economy I've ever had from a car! It's an automatic too, which you'd think would make it worse. The only thing I can think is that I recognise that it's not a performance car and treat it as such... aside from merging onto the highway or for an occasional comic moment it's never even seen full throttle.
