Not trying to start up a conversation on the merit of this book, nor who does and doesn't need it. But sounds like a decent book for those wanting to tinker without spending the time to fully understand what they are doing.

Thanks for the life lesson, Mum.
I really don't think they'd be steering you too far wrong with this book, and I know a few of the people who have contributed to it (from the mr2oc) and they're very knowledgable people. These books are designed to tell you as much as you need to know to understand what you are doing, so you can bypass knowing absolutely everything about it to draw your own conclusions.
