MA61 Digidash dodgy speedo

My digi speedo is going bonkers at certain speeds
At speeds like 50, 80 and up, it is perfect
But at certain speeds (especially 70kph) it chops and changes.
For instance, it goes from 64-71-65-70-66-70 etc etc, constantly.
Happens from about 64 to 76, then it settles down again.
Normally I wouldnt care, but it I plan to use cruise control, this wont help.
Now, is it just a stretched/worn speedo cable, or could the sensors in the analogue->digital convertor dirty or something?
Cheers
