Engineered and Street Legal!

Finally after months of planning, sourcing, fitting, implementation and running-in, it was engineered last week and blue-slipped and re-registered today! I'm a happy chappy.
Speaking with the engineer about modifications, he noted that the gearknob didn't have a H-pattern on the top. I said to him that I could get something made up to suit, but he cut me short, saying that it wasn't necessary. According to his RTA contact, there's no legal reason why a car needs to have a H-pattern on the gearknob; citing in the engineer's report that "it may be of an inconvenience to a newer driver, but there is no need for a H-pattern on the gearknob". That was one of my concerns... now put to rest.
So next time a Highway Patrol officer on a power-trip (hang on... they're always on one ) pulls you over because to them it looks like you're driving a moving target, and you don't have a H-pattern on your gearknob, tell them to stick it where it fits. Well maybe not, but do it tactfully at least. In my case I'll break out the 4-page engineers report and they'll be on their merry way looking for their next target.
It is good to know that the car is legal again.
