Hi,
It usually means it doesn't move as freely as it should and doesn't seat properly when closing, or it doesn't open properly for the same reason. As it doesn't open or close in the time period that it should you lose a bit of power.

ok yep I get the gist of it actually in reguards to the last answer the engine in question is a 22r EFi out of an '85 celica
what sort of work would you think is involved in fixing such a problem , it sounds like the head would have to come off.
and in that case with the engine having done over 300,000ks maybe it's not worth fixing unless the engine is being reconditioned.
has anyone has a 22r reconditioned before? what sort of price and down time would one expect?

more than its worth, what are you driving?
if you could do with a little less torque the 18RG 2.0 DOHC engine might be nice, and cheaper than reco'ing the 22R!

well yes I would rather not have the 22r at all they are fuel guzzlers, as for the 18RG I'm not sure you are allowed to install an older version of an engine than tha car came with standard. I actually wouldn't mind putting a 2S-C engine in as they are 2L cheap and have more power than the 21r

1. 2S-C
2. 18RG
3. 1g-ge
4. 1JZ-GE

it depends what u want and how much u spend.
I'd say the 1G and the 1JZ motors are expensive swaps comapared to the other 2.
The 2sc isn't a bad motor i've got one.
it will sit on the brake up to 3rd gear with the both back tyres spinning.
and also will wind the car off the clock.

A sticky valve is where the valve doesn't open and shut properly...
Just pull them out and get them cleaned properly (Super sonic clean)
Will be alot better...

Hi,
In NSW you can only put in an engine that meets (or exceeds) the anti-pollution stuff of the original motor that came with your car. The 18RG, being an old beast, won't meet the a/poll requirements of a 1985 vehicle, so you can't put that in your car.
