Selling my gaming PC - System only, no peripherals Fri, 10 December 2004 10:37 Go to previous message
A good opportunity for anyone looking to upgrade to a mid/high end system. I need the money so I've decided to sell my gaming PC. I've been building the PC over the last year and it's totally complete.

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+ * (see note)
10,000 RPM Western Digital Raptor 36GB SATA hard disk
7,200 RPM Western Digital 200GB SATA hard disk
16x Pioneer DVDRW+- Dual Layer Burner
Excalibur Radeon 9800 Pro (with VGA Silencer)
1GB (2x512) Corsair XMS 3200 CAS2 RAM
TV Tuner
Abit NF7-S Motherboard (onboard 100mb LAN, 5.1 Dolby Digital audio with optical output (one of the best sound solutions on the PC platform), 6x USB, firewire)
Antec Super Lanboy mini tower case (2x 120mm case fans, aluminium construction, front USB and audio)

Plus extras like upgraded 120mm exhaust fan (with added speed controller, to keep the fan quiet), Silent Boost CPU cooler, round IDE cables and thumbscrews throughout.

A note about the CPU. AMD's 2500+ is based on the Barton core, which is shared with the 3200+. The CPU's share the same multiplier and by simply changing the bios's front side bus to 400mhz (from 366mhz default) the CPU runs at 3200+ specification (2.2ghz). No voltage or risky procedures are needed, and the CPU has run at the same temperature as a retail 3200+ for over a year (35-44 degrees) 100% stable.

The video card is one of the best 9800 Pro's available and this year I've enjoyed Far Cry, Doom 3, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Theif 3, Half-Life 2 and others at fantastic frame rates and resolutions through 5.1 Dolby Digital coming through my Z-680 speakers.

I'm not selling my speakers or my monitor (21") because I plan on moving them to my 'work' PC.

I've got 10 years of experience building PC's and all the components were selected as the best price/performance compromise for a kick ass gaming system.

I'm asking $1100 for the system and will ship it via courier anywhere in Australia at half-price (I'll split the cost). The system is located in Perth and almost all parts are still under warrantee (components like the CPU and hard disks have 3 and five year warrantees).

I'll post some pictures of the system tomorrow.

I'll be checking this thread, my PM's and you can also email me (james at mailcentre dot org) with any questions.
