RA65 questions. help appreciated Sat, 11 December 2004 13:08 Go to next message
How much does an RA65 weigh ?

What needs to be done to fit a 1G in (engine mounts wise)?

Do RA65's run the same brakes and struts etc as an MA61?

Does an MA61 diff fit in?

Is a 1G lighter than a 22R?

I am still deciding which car to use as a garage project for a 1G with a few mods. BMW 323 E21, RA65 with MA flares, or porshce 924 (got to work out if they run a transaxle)

your advice is much appreciated

ma61 rear subframe bolts right in. Bonus with that is you get rear disks too.

From what i've gathered ra65's weigh 1150kg or 1230kg depending on your sources. Havn't actualy had mine weighed yet but it doesnt feel like it weighs 1230kg so its probabaly less

The last RA65 i looked at was late 84 and had a similar looking diff to an MA61 and rear discs as factory. i was hoping i wouldnt need a whole subframe Sad

pretty sure u dont need an entire subframe as their both F series diffs. Stock ra65's come with f372 but im not sure about the supras. I'm planing on getting a reshimed ma61 diff for my car and im pretty sure its just a bolt in, can anyone clarify?

I know im gonna get flamed for this but here goes... The 323 or the 924 would be excellent candidates for a 1g transplant...

Both the 924 and the BMW have heaps of aftermarket suspension gear etc... In fact the 924 suspension setup is near on identical in specification to the MA61 supra...

Yes the 924 uses a transaxle... (Diff and gearbox as one unit) with the tailshaft running at direct engine speed...
