Yeah the new Corollas a/c is pretty damn good Even on the hot days we had last week I still couldn't have it on the lowest setting...
Even my old Seca still does a good job & that hasn't been regassed for a few years

Yes, it is true. Toyotas have THE best Air con.
My old Corona used to have freezing cold air-con until the compressor blew.

My current cars climate control is far better than ANY of the Toyotas I have owned! Freezing in seconds!

Hi,
yeah, they're great a/c units. My old girl has the old piston pump (or whatever it's called) type - circa 1977.
In last weeks heat it still blew icy air into the cabin. On a day that isn't quite as hot it can frost the vents.
It was regassed last month and, though it wasn't a hot day when it was done, they checked the temp coming out of the vent and it was 5 degree Cels.
Unlike newer cars, it only works on "recirc" and not fresh air. Also has a variable cold slider switch - unlike some cars that actually switch on the heater a bit to stop it from getting too cold.
It comes on at around 1500rpm, instead of upping the revs automatically which some units do. When cruising around the engine doesn't lose power or anything when the a/c comes on and off - unlike the old Colt I once owned.

Its because they are overengineered like lots of other parts in their cars..last summer..2003 I went all over Sydney in my MX32...I had the dark tint and the air on low fan -was 40 plus one day and we were out from 9 am to after 5...we made 8 or 9 stops all over the west and every time the chill factor after a few minutes made me turn the fan down low and direct air away from us...the air con was last serviced in 1996and its the best I have ever had..the tint helps too...
