Currently I've got my 87 Toyota Corsa, that uses the 3ETE engine.

I've been having a look through the Toyota Electronic Parts catalogue (the thing they use at dealerships to look up part numbers etc) and comparing the 3ETE to the 4E-FTE out of a starlet. It seems that they both use the same flanges (according to the part numbers and pnc's) on the exhaust inlet, exhaust dump and the compressor inlet for both the ct12(on mine) and ct9(on the starlet).

Now provided the compressor inlet and exhaust inlet (from the manifold) are in the same place relative to each other the ct9 should fit on in place of the ct12 I'm currently using, no?

I don't know much about the sizes of these turbo's and for all I know the ct9 is actually smaller than the ct 12, but no one knows about bolt-on upgrades for my car, but alot know about bolt-ons for ct9's.

Now seeing as they appear to have the same flanges etc can any one suggest a good upgrade? Or confirm or undermine what I've found?

Any info would be good.
