Temp sender, different engine

I put another temp gauge in my car one with its own sender and gauge so both are suited.
Problem is the new one reads differently to the stock gauge.
The gauge is a stock ta22 gauge and the sender/pickup is a 3tgte sender would this change anything, would it be wise to get a 2t sender.??
