I was in the Philoppines on holidays and went to a go-cart track with some friends and tried to drift in them, it kinda worked but i broke the wheel of one of the carts some how.

I've found that they don't have the power to maintain a drift (in the dorifuto sense). It's even hard to keep a proper racing drift as you're leaving a corner.

The most powerful carts I've driven have been the 13hp ones at Eastern Creek though.

I have sort-of drifted a gokart in the wet b4. But it was just inertia coming off the straight, no power Razz

Gokarts arent designed for going sideways.

I do a bit of Karting, Mainly at Minto, but have been to Eastern Creek, much better/quicker karts. In the rains, its awesome, they drift, but understeer more.

What you do, is full throttle towards a corner, about 10m befor ethe corner, hook the steering wheel fast to the oppostite side of the corner (Ie, if the next bend is a right hander, hook it left) you will see the back will come out, and stay out, but not for long, as said, they dont have enough power to keep it out through the whole corner.

minto is fun, should have a toymods day out there.

You can hire the track for half the day or most of the day and have an event i think its 4 laps(1 warm up 3 race) then a final? you get a trophy at the end for the winner and the most safe driver Razz

I got one of the Archerfield go-karts semi-sideways coming out of a hairpin. Cold tyres, and i kept the accelerater half down as i was braking through the corner, so she just arced up out the corner, got half sideways and bent the steering rack (or whatever they use). One of the guys on the quads came up, bent it back and away i went Smile

I use to drive a go kart on a speedway track and yes you can drift them they are bucket loads of fun. I also have driven them at cameron park which i a circut and you cant drift them as they have a tendancy to spin.

Yeah, i can do it at the minto ones, You can do skandenavian (spelling) skids, but u pretty much stop at the end coz they have very little power. And for all u people who go there, try the picton ones, they are a little more expensive but the carts actually have balls and the track is 20 times better. And if u've ever driven a proper go cart u cant drift em coz theyve got too much power for such a short wheel base, u just do 360's. We should make a toymods day out at the picton ones Smile

AWESOME...just checked out that GIXXERKART link that thing is nuts,

and as for drifting in go karts just hit up fastlane go karts at minto while its pissing down, if sliding into the tires sideways counts as dorifting i am like a pro Evil or Very Mad

its fuckin hilarious, u go to the go karts and in the carpark you see silvia's, skyline's, sprinters...virtullay every hotted up RWD. if i had this sorta power at the rear wheels theres no friggen way id be goin go karting, Razz

id be at the local industrial estate Very Happy all those cul-de-sac's Rolling Eyes

just got back from hols down at eden.
while i was there, convinced mum to take me go-kartin at pambula... basically the same as minto bar SLIGHTLY faster. was on for 15mins... first 5 mins *relatively* dry, last 10 mins SOAKED lol. when it was just slightly wet i had some pretty cool drifts(as cool as you can get in a go-kart)... did one triple-chained drift, like sideways into, through, out of a corner... pretty happy... then it got SLIPPERY! i, literally, turned and went straight! farking understeer

anyways, that is all... sorry bout grammer
