RA 60 Wiring Diagram Fri, 07 January 2005 01:18 Go to next message
G'day,

Just bought a RA60 for my wife and there are a few electrical problems that I need to sort out.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram that they could share?

Thanks

Cheers!

Get a Gregorys manual for it.
That will have the wiring diagrams.

If you are too cheap for that, your local library should have one, or one nearish you.

Thanks all.

It has a problem with the starter circuit. Nine times out of ten it starts fine but it randomly needs to be jump started.
Charging system seems to be working fine, and battery voltage is on the money.

Pulled +ve battery lead and cleaned both ends as well as terminals. Touch wood it worked fine last night and this morning but I'm still not confident that it's permanently resolved.

Slightly suss of the starter motor or solenoid. There appears to have been some "Interesting" work performed on the wiring at some stage of its life and I want to double check everything.

Paranoid? Maybe but my wife works shifts and I don't want her stuck on the side of the road.

It could be a sticking startermotor.
And its sticking in the rest position.

The 1uzfe starters have a habit of doing it.

Every now and then I turn my key, and it just goes 'click'

I just either hold the key, and it eventually turns over, or a flick the key a few times, and it works, or I change gears a few times, (to slightly move the flywheel) and then try it.

So far one of the above has always worked.

Gday Mick,

I have an 82 XT and from what you described, it sounds like the same problem I had with mine. Occasionaly when I switched the car to ON, the Battery light would come on, but the Voltmeter would stay at 0. (opposed to jumping to 12).
When turned to START there would simply be a click. After many jumpstarts I finally decided to investigate, Turns out that the Fusable Crossover wires were Quite corroded, and would only sometimes provide enough of a connection for electricity to pass through. So try replacing the cross over wires and see what happens.

Cheers!!!!! Andrew
