Who has a MkIV Supra wheel I can borrow? :) Sat, 08 January 2005 12:51 Go to previous message
Hi all,

After much waiting, I finally have my bling 17" wheels fitted on the front of my MkII Supra, along with the Chaser coilover struts and big brake upgrade. It all looks pretty sweet but it turns out the wheels I bought 6 months ago are the wrong offset for my needs. I bought second-hand 17x8 +25 wheels ex-Japan which I thought would come pretty close to fitting inside my guards with the different front end I was installing (original rims were 14x7 +8), but my calculations were way off - the tyres are at least 25mm outside the guards! Check it out:

Anyway, I obviously need wheels with more offset but I'd like to do a test-fit before I fork out for another set of wheels. It turns out MkIV rims are just about perfect - same diameter, same width, same PCD, but an offset of +50, which should bring the rims about an inch further inboard. In other words, exactly what I need! The only question is, will they foul anything inside the guards? I'm especially worried about strut clearance here. The only way to find out of course is to fit one of these wheels and see what happens!

So, are there any generous souls out there in Brisbane with stock MkIV 17" wheels (or any other wheels with the same specifications) who would be willing to let me test-fit one of them on my car? Note that I don't need to drive anywhere on it, I just want to put it on and check if it fouls anything, which shouldn't take any more than 10-15 minutes. I'd be more than willing to provide a six-pack of your favourite brew in exchange for your time. Smile

So, any volunteers? I would be extremely grateful.

Oh and while we're on the topic, what's the going rate for a set of stock MkIV rims these days?
