Got a small dilemma on my hands. I am going to use a 3rz engine in my RA24 celica, but I cant seem to decide/figure out what trany I can/should put behind it. So here are the facts.
-the 3rz came with a w59 trany.
-the trany could see 300hp and 275 lb-ft
so here is what I have found so far
-I have figured out that a supra or celica w58 is going to be a direct swap, when using the w59 bell housing
-apparently the w58 has a slight problem with 2nd gear going out under high torque
does this all sound right?
Also, I was wondering if a R15_ would be a better choice. I dont know anything about these things, so will it even have the right spline number and input shaft length?
My dilemma is will the w58 from the supra be just fine, or should I start researching the R15_ series tranies as a stronger alternative.
Thanks for the help guys, just another step in getting this thing figured out
Ryan
P.S by the way, this is in the US, but noone seems to be able to help me on the other boards and this is my last resort
