whiteshadow Newcomer Location: Sydney Registered: January 2005	buying a new car, toyota corolla twin cam, ur opinion pleae Wed, 12 January 2005 10:25 G'day guys, I'm looking at buying a 1987 Toyota Corolla twin cam hatch. I just went and looked at it and these are the things i could pick up on... 3rd gear grinds when putting it into that gear at high rpm (4000-4500) but when at low rpm its fine, every other gear is fine, the clutch has recently been changed and 3rd gear has only started grinding since being changed, any ideas what it could be and whats involved in fixing it and roughly how much? its got a tiny little bit of rust bubbling around the right rear wheel arch, thats an easy fix though it doesn't have power steering, but the guy is going to supply a pump with the car, how much would it roughly cost to get that set up? when driving, the car is pulling to the left, i assume this is just a wheel alignment?? its got 15" mags steering wheel is not centered, but thats ok just need to take it off and line it up again and hook the horn up to it.... other than that, the car seemed to be in good condition, the engine was very clean... no leaks that i could see do you think its adviseable to get an onsite NRMA check? he's offered the car to me for $2500 down from $3200 advertised price.. what do you guys think? cheers dave.
