Miss Newcomer Location: Canberra Registered: August 2004	18RG pistons/rings Wed, 26 January 2005 10:29 Hey there Toyota Nerds I'm rebuilding my 18RG (for the RA23 road car) and am having trouble getting pistons/rings. So far: block has been stripped, head has been serviced and hottie cams put in. I was originally just going to hone it but it needs to be bored a little... a little bit of water (?) damage (curse of the previous owner). I'm trying to keep away from the forged piston option as it will be a daily driver. But so far I haven't come up with any other good solutions. I can get a set of genuine pistons (there are four sets in the country) but not the rings. I've pulled in a favour or three and have got Mal (from Phillip Toyota for Canberrans) trying to see if Toyota Japan will fabricate some rings to suit. Haven't heard back from him so things aren't looking good there. Does anyone know whether rings from an 18RC (or something else for that matter) will suit the genuine pistons?
