2T won't idle

just driving home normally tonight, not fanging it or anything and pulled up at the lights and my 2T stalled, and continued to do so. still drives fine, temp was normal (~85-90) no loss of power or any other clues but it just wont hold idle.
i played with the idle speed screw and it had no effect at all, the auto-choke is functioning normally, all the vacuum hoses are connected (dunno about leaks, this was a bit spontanious i rekon)
only thing i can think of is the fuel pump, there were some knocking noises going on at idle when it was working, but these have been going on for ages and im pretty sure its the fan bearing causing them.
anyone got any ideas?
