2T ignition advance

im trying to screw a few more hp out of the 2T, can anyone recomend a good primary ignition advance setting? im on about 15 before at the moment and was thinking of going to 20 or 25 BTDC. will the motor ping and die before i get out of the driveway? the vacuum advance im pretty sure isnt working.
specs are: 2T (OHV) solex downdraught carb, K&N air filter, 272 degree cam, pacemakers and a 2" straight through. i run BP Ultimate all the time.
also, some air/fuel settings. besides overheating, poor idle etc, what are the symptoms of a too lean mixture?
