Is the 3K a Renualt Engine?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering, one of my mates thinks that a 3K and probably the rest of the K series engines, he thinks that they were a Renualt engine out a of a Renualt 4 or some bullshit is this correct? And he also believes that the M series engines are Mercedes Benz motors? are these 2 myths true?
