Ok, before posing a question like this one must search the forums. I have and I've found some tasty little tidbits that've put my mind at ease about performing this conversion.
As far as I can tell this conversion can pretty much be done in a bolt out - bolt in basis.
It seems a Blue Top 4AGE will drop right in and all one needs is time and patience.
I haven't been able to find a comprehensive writeup/guide to doing this. The only information I have is from a Haynes service manual. Following the removal guides for a 4AC and installation guide for a 4AGE. Obviously the manual doesn't cover any issues that'll pop up when swapping the engines from one chassis to another.
Is there some kind of writeup out there I haven't been able to find? It seems this conversions is reasonably commonplace.
If there isn't I think I'll freehand it and hope for the best, if I'm successful I'll post a guide.
For the record I'm no freakin mechanic. I'm willing to invest many weeks in doing this slowly and patiently.
For the record I'm paying $350 for a Blue Top without wiring looms. Good deal?
