1JZ MX73 high idle

Howdy, nearly finished my 1JZ MX73 swap. Just started it up a few times with everything working, but it always seems to idle at 2000rpm. Im not that technically minded with cars but my mechanic has had a quick look for any leaks near the inlet manifolds and everything. Just tried the car out tonight and it started getting a bot dark so we didnt really have a chance to have a thorough look for the problem. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Also, when we first started it up, it ran great, sounded awesome and everything was working fine. We let it run for a while and just revved it abit in drive, trying to warm it up a bit to see if the engine fan would kick in, but as soon as the temp hit half way, the engine started hunting. It would rev up to about 2000rpm then rev bak down again, and would just continue doing this the whole time we had it on :-S
Any help would be great, so close to having the swap done , after 11 months!!!!!
