7.5 LSD

Ripped the Diff out of my GZ20 Soarer yesterday. Firewall is stamped F series Diff but TRD part cat. says the same G series as the MA70. Cracked it open and confirmed the 7.5 ring gear that the chassis plate claimed.
So, knowing this, I am looking for options for LSDs. Seems to be a 12 bolt ring gear. Anyone have suggestion? Definitely looking for a clutch type.
Thanks,
Ryan

Aussie MA61's had 7.5in clutch type lsd. Also some of our Hilux (yours might be called tundras or something) had these in the front so aftermarket parts are easy to come by. Go to your local 4WD performance parts shop and ask what they can offer.

Canadian MX73's also have F-series LSD.
RabidChimp.com sells TrueTrac LSD's for the F-series too.

True Trac are gear driven LSDs, correct? They are an option but I was primarily looking for an aggressive clutch type diff.
Thanks for the info. Keep the suggestions coming.

As mentioned above you can get practically any type of centre you can imagine for the F series. The Detroit PowerBrute is one of them - it's a clutch-type LSD which is apparently stronger/more agressive than the Toyota LSD. I'm pretty sure RabidChimp could get you one, but failing that just have a chat with an offroad specialist shop.

Rabid chimp seem not to want my business. Locally even, the price of the True Trac is good but I don't like the idea of a gear driven diff. From what I know of them they would always be transferreing torque around and never really lock up. All my cars have been Clutch type and I enjoy the predictabilty of them vs the Quaiff's and Torsens I've tried.
Had any one tried a Detroit Locker? Am I right that this type of diff would basically lock 100% under any load? IE for track use is would seem pretty dodgey. How about for drifting? autocross? Anyone have real experience?
The Power Brute would be a good option but Precision Gear doesn't have any until April. Apparenly not many production runs. It also seems very expensive in comparison...like 60% more then the tru trac.
Any one else have input or other options?
Thanks,
Ryan

The TrueTrac doesn't lock up 100%, but neither does a clutch-type LSD. You won't be disappointed with the way it gets power to the ground though, it's very progressive and torque transfer is at least as good as a clutch LSD. Also there are no wear components (eg clutch packs) which need to be replaced periodically.
As for lockers, they're quite brutal in operation; they go from open to fully locked pretty much instantly, so they're anything but progressive. Good for drags but I wouldn't recommend them for much else.

One of the guys that used to be in toymods had a detroit locker behind a 1G-GZE celica. Apparently they work well but are anything but friendly.
Nothing like having your ass pass your nose at 120km/h to confirm their brutality.

Are the majority of 7.5" LSDs compatible with Independent Rear Suspension. I know the True Trac is notched to take a snap clip but does anyone have real experience with say the Power Brute?
