Les Forums Junkie Registered: May 2002	Importing - "Compliance type mods" for 15+ yr cars Sat, 26 February 2005 04:44 Hi to those of you who have imported 15+ year old cars into australia (i know there are some trueno owners out there ) can i ask you a few questions ... when the car gets into australia, what happens ?? from what I have read, the car needs to be taken to a workshop to have "compliance type mods" made to it i.e. safety belt, mirrors etc etc. to "comply" with ADR's ... (can these mods be done by ANY mechanic ? or are there some specific mechanic in Sydney that specialise in these compliance type mods?) after this is done, does it need a COMPLIANCE PLATE ?? or is this only for cars imported under SEVS ? what i mean is, once the compliance type mods have been done, can the car be then blue slipped, get CTP then get registered ... ? I have read that tyres may be an issue, but is that only for cars imported under SEVS or does it also apply to 15+ year old car imports too ? just trying to see whether these 15+ year old cars are actually worth buying ! (please if you dont know the answers to these questions dont reply!!)
