to get an A to B permit in Sydney you will need to present a pink slip or blue slip to the RTA and they will issue you with one.
I dont know what it costs but im sure it wouldnt be more than $30.

blue slip is more than $30!!!
Catch 22 is you have to drive to get a slip anyway!
All i have done in the past is ring my insurer, get a cover note, tell them exactly where im going and legally you are allowed to drive an unregistered car on the most direct route to a place of repair.
But i think canberra is pushing the 'direct' loophole....

i meant the permit cost around $30 !!!!!!
the blue slip is $45
pink slip is $28
best to ring the RTA and ask for details as what is required.
u dont wanna get booked for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. thats a big hole in your wallet!

I'm possibly going to buy a car in NSW and i want to drive it too Brisbane. I'm not sure how the licence plates and stuff all works out. Will we have to pay for all new plates when the car comes to brisbane. Also while we are driving it back to bris, how do we show the cops that we own it? Not sure how to buy a second hand car from a private seller. I've only bought a car from a new cars dealer. Thanks in advance.

Once it's in QLD all you need is RWC and to take the car to a RTA joint and have them take the old NSW plates. As for driving, I was pulled over in my Supra before it was in my name (still actually registered though) and I told the officer that I'd just bought it, told him the name of the owner, and he said that was fine. BUT, get a recipt for the car (you should anyway) just to be sure.

I just sold a car that was driven back to brissy, gave the guy a receipt and half the rego paper which he then takes into his RTA (or whatever you vechile rego place is called). If you get pulled over can always just show receipt and proof of purchase with the rego slip.

A receipt is just on a blank piece of paper that you right up and have both parties sign.
I <name> sold one toyota celica 1977 rego tznyou for the sum of 20 zillion dollars on 3/3/05 to <buyers name>.
or somthing along those lines.
Then print both sellers and buyers names and both sign it.
easy.
