Hello, I'm new on this forum and I have a question, my Celica*s (TA40) has a 2T engine (1588 CC SOHC, 1 carburetor, 8 valves...). The last week I found a twin-cam head for a 2T-G engine, can I put this head on my 2T engine whitout several modifications?
thanks!!

You'll also need the idler shaft (which sits where the cam would go) also to rotate the unused cam bearings so you keep some sort of oil pressure, the carbies/exhaust side of things, water pump (diff to 2t although looks very similar) and thermostat houseing (hard to get if you don't have it)
Im not sure if you have prob with the pistons hitting the valves, but you'd be best to check!!

The short answer is it's not worth it. You need so many 2T-G specific parts to make it work, you might as well just buy a whole 2T-G.

Yes, like Norbie says itīs more easy buy a whole 2T-G, but in my country (Argentina) itīs so dificult to find them...
With the specific parts doesnīt have a problem, because in Chile there are shop's specialist in toyota partīs.
My only problem is if my whole of 2T suport the adaptation...
Thanks for te interest in helpme, and sorry for my English too!!!!

Personlly, I would still buy a complete 2TG - even if you have to import a complete motor from a neighbouring or nearby country - that way you are guaranteed of getting everything you need in one transaction. I'd also propose, buying the head you found locally too, as it will be a good spare part to have should you go for a such a rare motor in your home country.

buying new parts from the shops will probably be more
expensive than a 2tg whole motor.
