You must be able to diffuse a situation .
ie: how do you handle complaints ?
make sure you look good and have good manners.
but most importantly think of a time where u have had a bad customer being all loud.
And tell them how u calmed them down
like asking what was wrong and maybe even taking notes and personaly sorting the problem out and compensating the customer.
For instance.
I worked in a cafe somebody had picked up some food got home found out it was the wrong food and had to drive back.
needles to say they were shitty.
So i offered them a free drink sat them down and personally cooked them the correct food.
Then gave them some free things (ie side dishes) and sent them on their way.
They came is all shitty and left thinking we were a helpful bunch of people who happen to make mistake like every other human being.
it's a bit long but i tryed my best to explain myself.
i hope it helps
p.s. never ever raise your voice it shows lack of self control

it's not too bad working in customer service if you dont get pissed off easily...
Pros - helping people out and the likes
Cons - some days for some reason every customer is in a shitty mood and you have to put up with them, until you figure out their problem. Then there are days when you feel like you can't put up with any crap and just dont want to work

Just tell them you understand the LAER process (pronounced layer)
Listen
Acknowledge
Explore
Respond
It will always get a resolution to a situation.

be happy very important, talk alot, pretend to know what you talking about.
be prepared for what there going to ask joo
and think before you answer anything.
the customer is always right NOT ! just make them think they are.

I work in high end computer support (second and third level for 75 sites alone) and the focus of my job is customer service (aside from the IT part of it).
PRO:
warm fuzzy feeling from helping dipshits do the same thing again and again.
CON:
smiling and explaining calmly that the CD drive is not for holding coke and that clicking an icon 1 billion times will not make it load faster, when all you really want to do is tear off their head spit down their throat, slice their fingers into tiny little cubes and jam their computer fair up their arse.
ok seriously:
Customer service is fine but sometimes it does get a little frustrating, and that frustration you can't let the client see -> has to be dealt with in the correct way with the correct people.
For example: when I get pissed off at a site, I report the details to my 'coordinator' who then deals with it.
*end big spiel for customer service*

Do you mean pretend for the interview or the job?
For the interview yes, job no.
If you are in a sales customer service role then product knowledge is everything. Underpromise, over deliver. If you don't have it we can get it. Match price? Of course, even if it's at cost (only taken 8 years with the current boss, 3rd time round to get that through)
Keep them happy = keep them coming back.
