RT142 22RE - timing chain help Mon, 28 March 2005 04:06 Go to previous message
Howdy guys

I have a 22RE powered Corona and I'm doing the timing chain. I'm too cheap to buy a service manual, so I just need to know - does the head have to come off or not? I've done some prying and I can't get the front timing case to budge.

Next step is to pull the sump off entirely and then if that doesn't work the head comes off too - but I'm trying to avoid that as it turns a simple job into a hard one.

The second thing is - which timing chain kit is it? I went to Repco and they allegedly sell three. I've narrowed it down to two as one is a double row item. There are two single-row chain kits, one is longer than the other. So which is it?
