They were light truck tyres (tall and wide) used a bit of an experiment.

Are they the same company as "Sime tyre" ?
I put a set of "Sime tyre" on the Celica just before I sold it, and they were fine for grip, but WAY too soft in the sidewalls. They made the steering feel really vague and doughy after the sweet sweet Goodyear Eagle F1's I had on teh front.

My dad had Simex tyres on his car (a VN Commodore) lasted fucking ages, close to 70,000 kilometres and he was very happy with them.
One of my mates also had them on his car and they withstood his abuse for a lot longer than Sime tyres. Plus they were alot better in the traction department too.

Totally off topic, but my Falken Ziex tyres on the back are pretty average, their grip is pathetic compared to the Potenza GIII's I've had on my previous cars.

not sure if they still are but silverstone tyres used to be made by bridgestone.
They were production rejects or last "seasons" tread patterns depending on which type you were buying.

When I bought my car it had two worn out Simex tyres on the front, needless to say, they were replaced the second day I had the car home.
Can't really comment on them because I drove the car soft knowing that the tyres were unsafe.

Most tyre companies make decent tyres, it just depends on your price range! Simex do make some good tyres but they are in the more expensive range.
From my experience, for cheapish economy tyres, Simex are fairly crap (e.g. SM8000s).
