18r-g, is this problem normal? or even a problem? Mon, 28 March 2005 13:13 Go to next message
Similar to a pressurised crankcase, except compression is 170 across all 4, and no loss of power at all.
I have oil spittin out the top rocker cover breather, i have a small chromie filter on their, and oil all over my rocker cover constantly, occasionally when i take the dipstick out it spits oil out the dipstick hole, i dont think this is normal
Any ideas?
Its not large amounts, just spits!

I dont know about a carbie engine like the 18RG, but isnt the breather meant to go to the intake? My mate did this on his 4AGE (the filter thing) and it too leaked oil a bit.

Hi,

Yes, it goes to the intake. However, some people disconnect this pipe and put a plug on the intake and a small filter/breather thingy on the rocker-cover. Even then, over time, oil comes out of the filter and goes on your rocker-cover.

I'm not sure why the oil would spit out of the dipstick, but then again I've never checked the oil while the egnine is running to see if this is normal or not.
