Jamies car never ran any spectacular times on the drag strip, simply due to it not being built for that and only doing a few runs.

The RA28 in WA with the 1UZFTE has run in the nines though.

Yeah that's cool, people tend to say whatever they want on web sites.

The RA28 from WA was in Zoom probably 18 months ago and had run in the nines at that time.

Well, he built that car a few years ago now - it may well have been the fastest at the time. Go over to his workshop and take a look at it sometime if you're interested, Alex is a fairly reasonable sort of guy.

The yellow RA28 here in WA is not all Toyota.

Last I read the gearbox is a powerglide (GM) and the diff a 9" (Ford).

The last drag meeting I was at he was very close to running an 8 second pass (9.01).

EarlyRolla is right
And MrShin is wrong - Alex is not reasonable.

He will talk your ear off for ages, but when it comes ot trying to get sense and honesty out of him, well, let's just say, good luck.

That said, it is infact all toyota, and fairly quick at that.

Oh its possible to get him to do something, pay top dollar for him to rebuild and highflow a CT26 then when it gets used it ends up that the seals in it are shot. Though i shall find out how good his manifolds are soon enough.

Yeah what is was going to say is, i wouldnt get him to rebuild a turbo because there are plenty of places that do that, but maybe he would have some good custom exhaust manifolds or plenum chambers for the 1ggte that would make good power, since he has a quick 1g ra23.

His plemnum was customised by Andrew @ specialised power porting. As for his exhaust manifold, i will let you know how good it actaully is when i get to run my car, cause if its shit dont worry i will be posting it all over here lol

smt_007:

My take on that one mate: The 1g-gte plenum is good to start with. But, if you want to make it better $600 will get it power ported to spec by (as fattony said) Andrew @ Power porting.

The Exhaust manifold... Hrmm.. A sour point of contention. I think he's strangling the flow of the motor with the way he makes his manifolds. Fattony would disagree, but this is because he has one and I don't. However, the proof will be in the pudding and Fattony is going to put it to the test soon enough and we'll see how good it is.

On a slightly more general note though, I would think that the larger the runners, the more space for potential flow and therefore a larger potential for modification. That said, it does work, as Fattony's shows.

My opinion is that the manifold does make the turbo spool quicker but however strad is 100% correct in saying it will strangle the motor, i do believe that with a moderate power output it should not pose a problem but when you start to flow higher numbers of boost then it would be reaching its limitations. What that limit is i am unsure, though i intend to find out, and from what we can see its possible to make a 10 second pass with that manifold with a APPARENT stock motor. Next Hethcote meet i hope.

Bah,,, Humbug....

Stock motor. Yeah, and I've got supercharged testicles...

Stockish -gze bottom end maybe, but the head wasn't stock.
But yes, he did run the 10 second with that manifold. But did he have the manifold power ported and just didn't tell us??

Ive heard from a few people now that the apparently standard 1ggte was not so standard. But apparently they were all toyota parts inside. Does anyone know if he was running nitrous?

i've read three articles on morbst
inlet manifold was power ported as prevoiusly discussed

the engine in there is 100% stock toyota with supra gearbox attached.

there are custom water bleeds in the head to stock flash boiling of water in the head causing issues.

runs a ke30 radiator with 3 cores.

hiace diff, custom shaft obviously.

EMS ECU

interesting custom exhaust manifold (1" dia pipes) to the collector - something about keeping exhaust gas velocity up to the turbo which is kinda interesting.

thats about it really

I did put the word apparent in CAPS lol, there is no way that the stock 1g head could flow the hp neccassary to make the power to run a 10.08.
With respect to the manifold we will all find out shortly

Cos he aint' about to rip off the manifold just for us to look inside and go, oh yeah, he did power port it.
I've seen the car in the garage a few times, and it's just like looking at in the photos on autospeed

Although autospeed does lie. Alex never bought the car at all. It was another guys and they had a shit fight over it and alex won.

Yeh the car used to belong to one of his employees named Daniel, and daniel is also the guy who claimed to have done the majority of the work on the car, though after seeing the tunning job he did on a mates car i would beg to differ that he was able to get a car running right, but stranger things have happend. As a matter of fact i heard about 12 months ago that Alex had gone to the legnths of changing cooler ect and claimed more hp, when inturn the car apperently ran slower, this was comming from his ex employee

I have seen Diggy (Daniels) work and on this particular car it was absolutly shithouse, he had plugs firing when they shouldnt be, ran to lean ect. This is comming from the person who retuned the car and are a reputible tunning place here in melb, As for Alex's tunning, the map in my EMS is currently setup by him and was done on the street, It seems to work well, though i havnt set it up on the dyno to check it out for detonation ect. Though he f&*#ked up the thermo fan settnings and idle bypass valve. I have since fixed these problems myself and dont have a problem. Though i wont be able to give you a answer on how good alex's tunning is as i intend to have it dynoed elsewhere as there is just to much bullshit involved with racecraft, to many stories ect.

Also any other TA/RA 1ggte celica owners can post there times and figures.

Cheers.

I have no intentions of running it with the tune that the car has in it now, it was never tunned on the dyno and further more it has stock injectors, i have all intention of putting in my 440cc 7ms and put it on the dyno when i get my EMS back in.
