I already asked pretty much the same question, and the tread above me is most probably my question,
Let me tell you, the question i asked didn't exactly end, so it has no answer,
But heres a quickie, its your car, you drive, figure it out like i did, and just have fun, why ask whether or not you can or can't, yes you can get sideways, but drifting is a RWD thing,
If you define drifting, then its basically the linking of a series of corners with the wheels spinning, and i am pretty sure a rolla can't link more than 1 corner, unless someone can prove me wrong

or please, you guys actually believe half the shit that was on Initial D,
oh please i don't see none of those jap boys doing any of that shit, not to mention drifting in the snow, well that just speaks for itself, how can you control a slide in icy conditions, i would pay to see someone in real life go around a bend at a high speed in icy conditions and still have the car in ONE piece
thats my challenge for all those Initial D fans out there

how about going to pay to see the Rally of Finland then? Or the Swedish rally?
most people trying to hang the ass out or "drift" in a FWD use the handbrake. you could try trail braking into the corner too, or scandenavian flick the car.

Ok, you got me there with the rally, thats cool,
but i could have sworn we were thinking Initial D style here, backyard racers, not professional
but still, thanks for pointing that out 'seb_ae82'

Is it possible to 'drift' in a fwd? YES, but it's extremely difficult.

I felt my car slide sideways around a corner (on sealed road no less), the other day. Did I fluke it? I took it much faster than I should have and ended up facing straight to continue down the road. I was still turning the car, but could feel it going sideways. Pretty fun anyways, lots of noise too. There was other traffic around, but not right near me, so I was able to use both lanes (2 lanes each way).

If you go into a corner fast in a FWD and get off the gas it will upset the balance of the car and the rear will step out.
This is very different to drifting (or my understanding of it) as the idea behind drifting is to maintain speed through a corner, or series of corners.
By doing the above in a FWD is definetly not the fastest way to go through a corner and you will find when the car does stop sliding you have very little exit speed in most cases.
IMHO anyway.
