looking fore a little guidance about my cressida with a 2L-T

it's an auto, and i just put a new engine in as the old one blew up. (As much as i would have LOVED to have put a 1J in, but too much work with the fuel troubles and only having rear discs and a whole heap of other crap)

anyhow, upon doing the transfer, i found a cable going directly from the throttle into the gearbox. being a diesel, i have always cursed the friggin auto coz evry time you try to boot it, it drop back a gear and trys to rev well above the optimum tourque range. but when i saw this cable i thought 'hmmmm... could be helpful'
i'm thinking this is the 'kick-down' cable or something like that????
anyhow, i didn't play with before i put the new engine in, and once i had it all goin again i realised just how hard it was to get at the adjustment. so i just took the cable off out of curiosity to see what it did.
and i liked it. pretty much doesnt change down gears unless you do it with the stick, which suits me fine.. however, i was just worried that it may have negative affects, like burnin out my my tourque converter or something... i really don't know much about auto's.

also, the new one doesn't seem to have quite as much top end power, it just seems to stop revin any harder at like 3 grand. kinda like it just needs more fuel, so i was wondering if there is anyway of just tweaking the injector pump a little or something???
not that i plan to drive her at high revs much, put comes in handy sometimes

also is there any kind of adjustments for the turbo. this one seems to take a bit longer to kick in. well, depend.. if you hold it flat, it seems to take a bit longer to spool up, but if you just give like half throttle it seems to kick in pretty quick. the old one was similar to this. but it just died all together if you held it flat, but you caould get uptimum power by holding it just above flat... maybe this is just a throttle adjustment problem???

thanks
