Pulling Axles on an 86 (JDM)

Heeelp
OK, i either have stubborn axles, or im making a stoopid mistake. The Diff is off the car, the brakes (calipers and disks) are off the housing, and i have undone the 4 bolts behind the axle that hold the bearing cover thingy and stone guard etc onto the housing.
Now the problem is, the F'ing axles wont come out, and before i go skitzoid with the slide hammer  , i want to make sure there's nothing stupid im missing.
All my life ive only ever worked on cars with IRS, so this is new territory for me, so its bound to be me being stupid, but Im pretty good at that
