4agze knock sensor options

G'day just wondering does anybody know if any other type of knock sensors can be used on a 4agze? can a 7mgte one be used instead, or maybe 3sgte ones? I don't really car about the plug fitting, I can always make that fit one way or another. but more the internals or signal it sends out? would prefer same hread size though as I have just drilled the block to fit this one?
Actually I should ask first is there any way to test if a knock sensor is stuffed? I get the error code on the ecu, and when installing I knocked it pretty hard by accident, so i am guessing I did some damage to it.
If anybodys knows please let me know, I have dones searches but came up with nothing on the particular question.
