Aftermarket tachometer - Wiring ID by colour Sun, 05 June 2005 17:44 Go to previous message
Hi,

I have an aftermarket tach for my car which was bought second-hand without wiring diagrams.

It has 4 wires, presumably +12V, signal, illumination, ground.
Colours are red, black, white and green.

I figure either white or black is earth. If black is earth I guess red would be +12V, but white is common for earth in the factory harnesses I've found, so if so power could be black, then the colours (red/green) for signal and illumination; not sure which way to go?
