ok, this is a gen1 3sgte in a st165 gt4.
notice driving home tonite, that im boosting hard and not getting any power. boost gauge is showing approx 9-10psi, but when you put your foot to the floor in really any gear now, i notice theres no power there, despite the turbo spooling up fine. put my hand over ther air intake and and i can feel it sucking in air.
this use to happen only in 3rd gear really, but now it sorta happens in any gear. like its goten worse. its sorta acceletates ok, but when boost comes on, its like its really holding back
when it cold starts it idles REALLY low, like 400-500rpm untill it warms up. then it idles fine.
ive noticed that when i start it up in the morning, there is heaps of soot blowing out the exhaust too.
what could be causing this? it doesnt feel like fuel cuts, im thinking that the headgasket is blown.
how do u detect a blow headgasket, do i need a compression test done?
what do u rekon?
