My car has been off the road for ages now... I took the engine out and started tripping it to get distracted with a quick engine transplant on my girlfriends Supra turbo (also bottom end lol)
The engine clanked on start up, then quietened down a bit when the oil preasure built up.. turns out the problem was no.1 big end bearing spun
Here in the uk there is Zero support for 1G-GTE folks... Toyota say they can not get me oversize bearings (although they can for a 1G-GE).
I did a quick search here and it seams it is not uncommon for the 1Gs to go clank, but it seems once they go they are not worth fixing!!!
I want to keep with the 1G ideally as I sent the head off to Renault F1 (do you guys follow F1) for a port polish and gas flow... and I don;t want to waste that money if the bottom end is dead! (I should have looked into the cause more before sending off bits to try and get some more power!)
I have not yet got the crank pulley off,(its seized fast! I'll have to make something to try and get it off!) I'm guessing teh crank is goosed anyway... Has anyone here repaired an engine in this state? or is it worth just trying to get another engine and starting from there???
Cheers guys.. fed up of my car being dead! We have our few months of sun here and I want the aerotop back on the road!!!
