no sympathy really, but one thing that majorly shits me is this
"Police will continue to target street racing across the city in the hope that car enthusiasts will eventually get the message."
way to lump all us car enthusiasts together in a nice big "acts irresponsibly, illegally drag races" group.
Of course, I may do that stuff fom time to time, but I pick the right time & place, and as a result have not been fined for it. (IE: not drag race industrial areas)

Yeah that does suck. Car enthusiasts is such a general term. But I have to say it does serve them right. Those semi-organised drags are just asking for trouble.

I know how to stop teh hard core street racers.
1. Dig big (bloody big) hole at the end of the "drag strip" they use in industrial area.
2. Cover hole with sticks and leaves.
3. Hide in bushes and wait for street racers to fill the hole with their rice-mobiles and bloodied corpses
The Police are cracking down on the street racers and burnout crowd here in Canberra too. But luckily we don't all seem to get branded in the same manner by the police (the media is another story).
The case here is if you act like a tool you will be treated like one by the police. Everyone else is basically left alone

Personally tough shit.
I have nothing against the occaisonal traffic light burst - but organising big groups of people and full on races should be left for the track.
Drag strips, race tracks, drift meets are all the right place to do it.
Though I don't like all car enthusiasts being put into the category that we're all irresponsible.
