A friend of mine (seriously ) destroyed his 5M-E in an MA-61 (I think it's the MA-60 maybe, the Toyota Celica Supra from about 84 with the single overhead cam engine, not twin cam) and he wants to put something a bit beefier in there in place of it, of course, me being the organiser/executor of these nefarious deeds.
Anyone know the legalities of putting a 5M-GE or 7M-GE into that car given that he lives in SA? Also, how different is the 7M-GE from the 5M-GE/5M-E, if there's too much wiring crap to do or fiddling around with gearbox/engine mounts then I don't know if I can be bothered... I know the 5M-GE will pretty much slot straight in, but I'm not sure how legal it is.
Any help other than "look through the forum" would be greatly appreciated.
He doesn't want to have to fork out big bucks for a 1JZ or any turbo engine swap, something that'll give it just a bit more guts with good reliability.
