Just the other day, started up the car and there's a GOD AWFUL rattle, kinda like something on the engine is hitting the body, making a banging noise.

Turns out this noise only happens at LOW, very low idle, almost too low to be right idle, and I had a look around and it isn't clearences, it's something either inside the engine or gearbox.

It does sound like it's coming from the back of the engine or the gearbox area, so it does make it slightly hardly to diagnose.

I can confidently say that's it's probably not the engine hitting the body, it's something else. It's a very metallic banging noise, so I'm a little concerned as to what it is.

anyone got any ideas?
