well i went through a few old posts from the for sale section and based what i'm going to spend, which is $6,500 max.
Here are a few of the previous sales i found,
$5,850 with W58 manual and 12 months rego

I have to say i have noticed how cheap some of the soarer's have been lately especially as i know i'm nearing to sell mine. All i can say is that you do usually as the saying goes get waht you pay for. A lot of theose cheap ones about have been the 2ltr TT whereas mine is not only the 3ltr model but is the GT limited version to and a MZ21 of 1990 which makes it a lot newer than some of the others. These are all things which hold value in a car over things such as mods, mine has also just had years rego added to it which is a bit under a g on it already

ill be advertising mine here soon, power at about 200kw at the fly, manual, wont find better cared for 10.5k. bit out of your price range tho
