I was just after a bit of info on ke70's. The reason for this thread is that we are currently racing a bit of a budget t18, it had a fair bit of rust removed but its not too bad. Soon we will be acquiring a ke70 for free. It has minor rust and requires front seats but it generally roadworthy. The t18 is currently un-roadworthy and not registered so has to be towed around everywhere. It is too far gone to get back to a registered state e.g. no interior, heater, emissions gear etc etc.
We are considering registering the ke70, then swapping all the t18 gear into it and using it as the race car.
How does the ke70 chassis compare in weight and structural rigidity.
Are the parts interchangable e.g. could we put the 3t on t18 cross member along with t50 and t series rear end into the ke70. Would ra60 struts and brakes with sigma control arms still be doable.
Is there any reason this is a bad idea, except for the additional effort? I know once the ke70 is back to similar condition to the t18 is now it will be unroadworthy, but a few competitors have done a similar thing and just risk the chance of a defect in the short drive to the track once a month.
The problem with the t18 is towing and the inability to do any form of testing anywhere.
Thanks for any input. If we dont swap to the ke70 the t18 will be starting its next load of mods soon.
