I am buying an MZ20 Soarer. There is no one who knows much about the Soarer here so please help. I need to know how hard it is to do a manual swap.
What parts do I need exactly?
How hard is it?
Do I need a manual ECU?
Cost?
Is it worth it?
Should I just try and find a GZ20 with manual 1G in it?
Can I swap a manual 1JZ into an auto MZ20 in the future?
Thanks

1.well if it is auto you will need pedals, belhousing ect.
2.I wouldn't think it is hard if you know what your doing, a few people have.
3.No, but it would be better if you do have a man ECU. You can run a manual with an auto ECU but not the other way around.
4.depends on how much your are going to do
5.depends on how much you want a manual
6.GTE and 7M's are different motors. again depends on what you really want out of it
7.yes. you can do anything if you have the money.
I am sure someone else will come give you specific details but that is my thoughts.

Get an R154 from an MA70 supra.
You will need gearbox, bellhousing, clutch, shifter, slave, gearbox crossmember, tailshaft and something to cut a hole in the tranny tunnel to fit the shifter.
Cost = alot.
Don't need a manual ecu, just got to fool the auto ecu with the neutral start switch.
Worth it... Yes.
Gz20 = slow and boring
1JZ will bolt right in if you can find a JZA70 supra half cut and crossmember. If you already have the R154 gearbox then you will need a new JZ bellhousing for it.
