Howdy,

My 4A is overheating badly and I am slightly confused as to what the cause is. Firstly it boiled quite badly and quite possibly damaged the head gasket, yet it seems to have enough power and it is not loosing water or oil (not out exhaust etc).

The problem is that it heats up and the fans (electric) dont turn on, despite it been in danger zone. At first i thought it might be the fan sensor and swapped it off a working corolla (same model AE82, 4AC) as a test :/ but to my dispair it hasnt helped and the car still overheats and yet the fans dont turn on.

Now i have one conclusion, the thermostat. Now before I start work is it likely to be caused by anything else? i did the water pump 12 mnths ago so i doubt its that, a leaking head gasket wouldnt cause overheating without the fans on right?

Thx for ur time
